Well we had my sons 9th birthday party yesterday. The kids had a great time, and I am happy that that is over for another year. They are always so much work, but this year wasn't so bad. I let my son pick out the snacks that he wanted and we made a punch, and we don't decorate so this year was pretty easy. He got a lot of nice stuff, thanks to everyone that was here. We went out today because he was just itching to spend his birthday money. Between all of his family and friends he received many gifts and $88 in cash. First he wanted to go to Petsmart and he bought Griffin a special dwarf hamster cage and a frisbee for Trinity and gave $3 to a animal shelter that allowed him to play with all the animals that they had with them. Let me tell you that I was beaming. I was so proud of him that he did this, he made the choice to spend some of his birthday money on others. THAT WAS SO SWEET. The hamster cage is very cool, there are lots of things for Griffin to do now. Next we were on to the game place. He got a Tony Hawk game and a James Bond gamecube games. He then decided to go to Toys R Us, where he got a Batman board game and another Tony Hawk gamecube game. He was quite the little shopper today and I think he got a lot of high ticket items for his money. Maybe something that I am trying to teach him is sinking in.

Our newest family member
Well my son and I went out yesterday for his birthday. We saw a movie, when and had lunch with my husband, and went to buy him a new fish. Instead of a fish we instead got a very cute dwarf hamster. I have missed having a hamster since our last one Houdini died. My son has named him Griffin the Great!! I am not quite sure as to what Griffin is great at yet, but if he keeps from escaping and being eaten, then he will certainly be great in my book.
Some Sad News.
I got some sad news yesterday. My Aunt Linda died yesterday morning. She had been suffering for quite some time with cancer. I know that now she is at peace and her suffering has ended. I have mostly fond memories of my aunt. She was the spunky, mouthy type, that ALWAYS said what was on her mind. Blessed Be to you and the family during such a trying time.

Countdown to Kickoff......
As of right now I have 49 days, 22 hours, 17 minutes, and 47 seconds to kickoff the Notre Dame football season, September 2, 2006 - 8pm against Georgia Tech!!! For those of you who are just reading my blog and learning about me, I am a HUGE FOOTBALL FAN!! I am convinced that we are going to put last year behind us and Coach Weis will once again work his magic, and we will have yet again one hell of a season. Even though last years finish was disappointing, I could not have been prouder of my team. GO IRISH!!!
Oh how time flies
I have a new dilemma on my hands these days. My son's 9th birthday is next week and I still don't have his gifts yet. You see the problem is that he is my one and only child. My baby, my heart and soul, and he costs ALOT of money. I have spoiled him rotten and now I am out of options. There are only so many batman figures and board games that you can buy. He has a ton of movies, games, etc. He loves to read, but has more books than his little book shelf can handle. Maybe, I should get him a new book shelf. Now there is an idea. Actually, the only reason that I am worried is that I have been noticing over the last couple of years how superficial and materialistic he is. This is not what I want for him. Now I know that most children are possessive and mateialistic, but he is over the top. HE HOARDS EVERYTHING!! Getting him to go through his toys is like pulling teeth. I can suddenly hear my dad's words in the back of my head "if he had a brother or sister he wouldn't be this way". I beg to differ, I think it would be worse. So anyway, the moral of this post is this. This year I am scaling it back. Just a few inexpensive gifts, no elaborate, breaking the bank, over the top gifts. I think it is time to show him that not only am I not made of money, but that it really is the thought that counts and not everything has to be expensive to be enjoyable.

Spelling Counts
I was reading my own blog, not something that I usually do, and I noticed all of these spelling and grammatical mistakes. How embarrassing!!! Really people I am not that ignorant, I just don't proof my own blog. I am very surprised that no one has called me to the carpet on this yet. WHERE ARE MY FORMER ENGLISH TEACHERS WHEN I NEED THEM?? I promise on future posts I will try harder!!

Spring Cleaning a bit late
Well over the course of the past few days, my husband and I have been clearing out and throwing away all of the shit we have collected over the past 3 years. I cleared out the spare bedroom and have made it a haven for myself. I moved my computer in here. I have all "my stuff" in here and have threatened the family with bodily harm if they enter without permission. This has also allowed me to clean my bedroom and move it around. My husband has been clearing out his office so that he may get all of his computer crap out of my dining room. Over all I would say that all of out hard work is paying off and the house is really shaping up.

Baseball Party
Well my son's baseball season has come to it's official end. Today was the end of season baseball party. The coaches got all the kids trophies, and baseball cards, and candy. All the things that kids love. We had a nice picnic, followed by the Parents vs Kids baseball game. All I have to say is, THOSE KIDS CHEATED!!! I haven't had that much fun in quite a while. I was actually dreading it all day today, and come to find out I can play baseball!! It was a great day and a wonderful end to a really fun season. Good job Red Socks hope to see you all next year!!!
Neopets
Last night my son had me adopt a Neopet. What is a Neopet you ask. Well it is a creature that you choose, and they are not like any creatures that I have ever seen. You name it, choose it's color, and then you have to play games to earn points to feed it, buy it toys, furniture, a house etc. Just what I need right. Another responsibility. That is what I thought a first as well, but now I am hooked. I came home today and I had a 2 hours to kill before my son's baseball party. You would think that considering that I didn't sleep really well last night and had to get up at 5am that I would have taken a nap. NOOOOOO, I logged onto my neopet and proceeded for the next 2 hours to play games to win points to buy my neopet whatever his heart desires. Crazy huh!! I have to admit that it is really fun to just sit and play like a kid again!! I think all the adults reading this should go immediately to www.neopets.com and create your own pet. Enjoy!!

The garden...Updated
Sorry everyone no pictures. I am just to lazy to walk out there and take a picture. I noticed that we have peppers and tomatoes!!! I am so excited, it is wonderful to see something that my son and I worked so hard on coming full circle. The pumpkin plants are huge, same with the corn stalks. It seems that everything is doing well except for the broccoli. There is nothing going on with the broccoli except that the bugs seem to like it. Oh well, at least they are leaving the other plants alone. I will get a picture as soon as I can.
My Quest for a New Job
The most amazing thing happened to me today. A former employee that I used to work with had contacted me recently to tell me about a possible position coming open in her department. The problem is that she is in sales. I told her I would think about it and let her know. So I decided today to e-mail and let her know that I am interested in the position. She immediately e-mailed me back and told me where to apply on-line and wanted to set up an interview for tomorrow. TOMORROW!!!! I hadn't even completed the on-line application yet and already had an interview. Well, to add even more wonderful news to my day, I will be interviewing with my favorite former boss. I worked with this gentleman for a while about 2 years ago. We have kept somewhat in touch, and most of my management style I learned from him. I can't wait for tomorrow. Not only for the interview, but to also see my former boss again. Wish me luck everyone!!!
