My Beloved Pets.......

That Christmas Cheer!!!

Okay all, so I know that this is the holiday season, but could someone please answer one question for me. Why do perfect strangers feel compelled to ask the dreaded holiday question of "So have you finished your Christmas shopping?" Why do people care? I came to the realization that most people ask this question as a means of small talk. That is pretty personal people!!! Working in the industry that I work in, I have heard this question at least 10 times a day. It never ceases to amaze me that people are more than willing to tell you about their family, and what yuletide crap they have spent their hard earned bucks on. Do I really need to know that you bought your 90 year old Grandma a tub seat. NO I DON'T!! I think it is wonderful that you looking out for Grandma's hip health, but I am pretty positive that Grandma does not want this broadcasted to everyone within ear shot of you. Now on to those people that have not finished that all important christmas shopping and they are asking me what to buy, or where to buy that "special gift." Look, I work in hospitality not retail. Shop at Macy's like everyone else and if you can't find anything there gift cards or cash are always nice. I don't think Christmas or Yule or whatever your holiday is, is meant to be this hard. Lighten up people!!

My Pets

I am taking a page from my best friend Susan's blog. Copycat, Copycat. I know she won't mind. I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to my faithful flock, my helpful herd, my grouping gaggle.

Tigger - this is my first pet that I adopted from my local SPCA. He is a black and tan tabby cat, that could care less about the world around him. What you say? Most cats could care less about the world around him. Well this cat REALLY could care less. He loves everyone and everything all the time. He also makes a great lap warmer.

Merlin - Although I hate to admit this he is my favorite - just don't tell the others. He is my black magical kitty. He talks, he listens, he eats. This is one big kitty. When this cat finds his way to your lap, pain ensues. Let me tell you there is nothing like having a 17 pound cat leaping in your general direction.

Miss Kitty - This one came to me while I was listening to people talking at work. This couple did not protect their cats from fleas and got really angry with them when they brought fleas into the house. Imagine. So instead of taking care of the problem, they decided to take them to the pound to be "put down". Can you believe this - oh it gets better, keep reading. Miss Kitty managed to get away while they were being put into the car. They managed to catch her several days later and had her in their garbage can, where they were going to shoot her later that evening. Allow me to set the scene - through tear stained eyes, and trying to find my voice I pleaded with them to let me come and take her. After much crying and screaming they gave in. She has been with us now for 4 years and is a beautiful long haired calico who loves my son.

Trinity - This is my faithful, protective, "but Dad, I'm still a puppy", shitbag. When my husband and I bought our home we talked about getting a security system. I think he meant ADT, where as I meant a very beautiful, very quick, German Shephard with lots of teeth. She takes her job as the family protector very seriously, especially where my son is concerned.

Merrick - This very large, very loveable black lab, was adopted as a companion for Trinity. She quickly won her way into her Daddy's heart. Wherever my husband goes, Merrick is not far behind. As a matter of fact, I think he gets offended is he leaves the room and she is not with him. She was abused, but has made great strides since joining our household.

Hooper - Okay, before Hooper came along I could boast that I had never stolen anything. Well there was that candy bar or pack of gum when I was 2, but does that really count? Hooper lived in someones back yard that faced a friends back yard, he had no dog house, no food or water. General abuse was a daily fact of life for him. If not for my friend Bonnie (otherwise know as Hooper's guardian angel), he would not have survived. Last winter during the "big snow", she put a blanket out for him and kept shaking it off every so often, not to mention the daily feedings. I met Hooper because Bonnie thought I should have him. She was right. His main goal in life now is to hold down our floor. This beautiful Siberian Husky now lives in the lap of luxury and is only outside when he wants to be. Food is always available, water is always available, and there is always some ready to scratch his butt. Life is good.

Last but not least there is Bruce - out beta fish - he must be 900 years old!!! We have had him forever. He doesn't say much, doesn't eat much, but man he seems to crap alot.

Okay well this is my barn yard. When I figure out how to post pictures, (this will come when all of my brain cells have not be left at work), you will see my other children.

About Me

Well you really want to know all about me, otherwise you would not be reading this. To most peoples suprise I lead a very uneventful life. My days are filled with Mom stuff, work, laundry, dishes, etc, etc, etc. Occasionaly I will have a bit of excitement, but not often. I have an 8 year old son who is my everything, I recently celebrated my 3rd wedding anniversary, and 7 animals call me Mom, (or at least bark, meow, or bubble Mom).
